“Don’t Let Debt Collectors From Takhar Group Ruin Your Life! Repair Your Credit Now!”

Takhar Group My Tale

I had a bad experience with Takhar Group. They trashed my credit report and my life turned upside down almost overnight.

Here’s My True Story, Complete with Credit Scores and Documentation, Demonstrating How You Too Can Remove Collection Items and Repair Your Credit

Not too long ago, I suddenly found myself targeted by a debt collection company called Takhar Group. At first I was really confused. I’d never heard of this company, and I didn’t understand what they wanted from me!

However, I soon figured out that Takhar Group had bought an old credit card debt from Sears, and that’s why they were after me. I was beyond disappointed in this turn of events. I had had a disagreement with Sears over the way they calculated my interest, so I’d missed a few payments while we worked that out. But I really believed that I had paid Sears everything we’d agreed upon.

I tried contacting Sears to talk about the situation. Unfortunately, they informed me that once a debt is sold to Takhar Group, Sears no longer has any control over the account. I sure wish Sears had contacted me BEFORE they sold my debt! I’m sure we could have cleared up the misunderstanding and saved us both a lot of time and trouble.

Takhar Group was nothing but trouble in my experience. They sent me letters every week, and called me so much it seriously amounted to harassment. Whenever I tried reasoning with the Takhar Group representatives, it was like talking to a wall. As far as Takhar Group was concerned, there was only one acceptable outcome: me paying!

I was being pretty stubborn about the situation, and I felt like I just couldn’t bring myself to pay an inaccurate amount. Takhar Group began to tack on interest and fees to my balance, which only made me more resolved not to pay! I knew that debt collectors purchase debts for a small percentage of their actual value, then expect the debtor to repay the full amount. They were already making a profit off my account. Why did they need to add fees and interest too? It seemed greedy and unfair to me.

I didn’t really know what else to do about the situation, so I just kind of ignored it. I threw away every piece of mail Takhar Group sent me, and I stopped answering the phone unless I recognized the number. Thank goodness for caller ID!

Turns out, ignoring things was a mistake. Takhar Group reported my debt to the credit card bureaus. Soon I got notices from TransUnion, Experian, and Equifax saying that I had a collection item on my credit report! To be fair, at this point Takhar Group wasn’t the only debt collector after me. Other credit card debts had also been sold, so I now had several collection items on my credit report.

Takhar Group Credit Drop

My credit report was almost ruined by Takhar Group. My credit score dropped down to a 501. I could not believe the impact it had.

Because of the collection items, my credit score dropped to an utterly pathetic 501 points. I pulled a TransUnion report to prove it. When I saw that credit report, for the first time it really hit home that I was in trouble.

Bad credit can be extremely limiting. I had been hoping to change jobs and move to a cheaper apartment so that I could have a little extra money in my pocket. However, I realized that with an “F” on my credit report, I wasn’t going to be able to follow through on my plans. A new landlord would definitely run my credit report before offering me a lease. A potential employer might do so as well. I’ve heard that it is becoming more and more common for employers to use credit histories as a means of judging job applicants.

I realized that, like it or not, I would have to deal with Takhar Group in order to repair my credit and get on with my life.

Here’s where I committed a few of the cardinal sins of debt collection.

First of all, I again tried to talk reasonably with Takhar Group. You should never do this! Talking to debt collectors is a waste of time. You’ll never get them to cut you any slack based on sympathy or human feeling. The only thing they want to discuss is payment.

Next, I wrote letters to Takhar Group. For every letter they sent me, I wrote one back. This was a mistake because I simply didn’t have the legal expertise necessary to write letters that would be taken seriously. Instead, all my letters accomplished was to make me look like a whiner. Apparently, if you write too many letters, you can actually get your complaint labeled as frivolous! Then, if you do come up with a good legal argument, it will be really tough to get the debt collector to actually listen to you.

If you must send mail to the debt collector, get a lawyer to write the text and send the letter via certified mail. That way you can prove that the debt collector received the communication.

My final mistake was actually thinking about paying! Takhar Group had harassed me for so long, that I was beginning to feel like payment was my only option. Even if it was unfair, I thought I would have to do it. I’m glad I didn’t decide to pay on my own, because paying a debt is no guarantee that the corresponding collection item will be removed from your credit history! Before you pay, you have to get the collection agency to agree IN WRITING that they will remove the collection item.

Since I was obviously getting nowhere on my own, I decided it was time to think about getting some professional help. I did some research online, and I found Lexington Law credit repair service. I read plenty of positive client reviews and saw some impressive statistics about Lexington Law’s track record. For example, in a single year they removed one million collection items!

I decided to call Lexington Law for a free consultation. I figured I had nothing to lose, so I might as well find out if they could help me. The Lexington Law rep who took my call was very friendly and understanding. She had an in-depth knowledge of debt collection, credit repair, and her company’s services. She explained that Lexington Law could help me defend my rights as a consumer. If the debt had been reported inaccurately or was invalid for any other reason, Lexington Law could get it removed from my credit history.

Takhar Group Gone

Takhar Group was deleted from my credit reports within days. As a result, my credit score jumped immediately!

I was really excited about what I was hearing. Some of it seemed too good to be true, but since there was a no-risk refund policy on offer, I decided to give Lexington Law a chance.

As soon as I hung up the phone, Lexington Law went to bat for me. They started with a debt validation process, by which they forced Takhar Group to prove that I actually owed the debt in question. Then they checked to see if my debt was still within the statute of limitations for collections. Turned out it was, but it’s always good to check.

Lexington Law also reviewed the acts and claims that Takhar Group had made during the collection process. They were looking for anything that would violate the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act or the Fair Credit Reporting Act. This could include the debt collector calling me before 8 am or after 9 pm, calling my boss after I’d told them not to, or threatening legal actions they had no right or intention to actually take.
